PURPOSE:To prevent elongation in the printing results by a method wherein when a character code containing a attributive code for indicating rules is sent following a line shift indicating code, the line is shifted by half to print upper rules and a character and then lower rules are printed by shifting the line by half respectively. CONSTITUTION:In the drawing, NL indicates a shift indicating code, ATB an attributive character code, PL an upper horizontal rule indicating bit, VL a vertical rule indicating bit, UL a lower horizontal rule indicating bit, NSi Japanese shift code and NSO a Japanese shift out code. When NL is given, it is retained in a shift register. When the attributive character code with PL or VL is given, a half shift is performed to printing for rule data. Surface characters (horizontal line) are automatically generated and printed by 1 column for alphabetic numeric and by two columns for KANJI based on a character data. Then, a printing is performed for character data by a half shift. |
