PURPOSE:To perform highly-precise machining regardless of the error of the nose radius of a cutting tool tip by changing the direction to a machining surface of a circular diamond cutting tool machining a metal curved mirror in synchronization with the scan position of XY tables being scanned. CONSTITUTION:In performing curved surface machining, a fine tuning table 8 is scanned so as to adjust a diamond cutting tool 10 at a position where its nose radius center becomes the center of a rotary plate 5. Next, a work drive unit 15 is operated to rotate a work 19 and also an NC control unit 14 is operated to scan XY tables 3, 2 in accordance with a preset paraboloid generating program. This program is generated so that the rotary plate 5 starts rotating just when the nose tip is brought into contact with the cutting start point of the work 20. In addition, a drive unit 13 is controlled to rotate the rotary plate 5 so that it is invariably kepy in contact with the machining curved surface 21 of the nose tip by selecting the rotating angle of the rotary plate 5 in conformance with the scanning of XY tables 3, 2. |
