A process and an apparatus for the production of a prosthesis, in particular a dental prosthesis, with the aid of a pressure chamber is described, wherein a wax model of the prosthesis is introduced into the pressure chamber and, after removal of the wax, a polymerisable plastic material is introduced under pressure into the cavity. Heating of the polymer for the purpose of curing is effected by microwave energy. For this purpose, windows which allow the microwaves to pass through are provided at two points opposite to one another in the pressure chamber.
