The invention relates to a profile system for putty-free fastening of glass panes (14, 15) for roofs, with a support profile (11) which has on the upper side a vertical web (2), over the upper free end of which a downwardly open U-shaped profile (8) lies, on the vertical legs of which in each case a band-shaped profile (9) projects at right angles on both sides on the outside. Fastened above the U-profile (8) is a cover profile (13) which is parallel to the band-shaped profiles, a glass pane (14, 15) in each case lying, sealed by elastic material, on both sides between the band-shaped profiles and the cover profile edges. The upper free end of the vertical web (2) is overlapped by a downwardly open U-shaped, profile-shaped intermediate piece (4) which is fastened to the web (2) and is overlapped on the upper side and on both sides by the U-profile (8).
