The invention relates to charging devices for electrical accumulators. An object was to achieve a charging current which is largely independent of the internal resistance and charge state of the accumulator as well as of voltage fluctuations of the mains, and to reduce this current automatically when more than 90% of full charge has been reached. A further object was the arrangement of a measurement of the rising accumulator voltage during charging which is sufficiently precise and easy to read off that the charge state can be determined thereby. A further object was to facilitate the individual charging of a plurality of simultaneously connected accumulators using only one charging device. The objects are achieved particularly economically by a special thryistor circuit which is supplied with the multiple voltage of the accumulator, a high precision digital voltmeter, matched thereto, and an electronic stepping switch.
