In the exposure meter for photographic purposes having an entrance optical system, a light-sensitive element and a display for measured light values, precautionary measures are to be taken in such a manner that available-light and flash measurements can be made correctly and distinguishably. This object is achieved by a partially reflecting mirror (2) disposed in the beam path of the optical system, as well as by a first photodiode (3) for the light passing through the mirror (2). Furthermore, a second photodiode (4) for the light partially reflected by the mirror (2), switching units (5, 6) for the processing of the measurement signals of the photodiodes (3, 4) and a microcomputer to control the display means (8) are provided, an A/D converter (9) being connected between the switching units (5, 6) and the microcomputer. <IMAGE>
