A transparency is provided, in which a transparent base (1) consisting of plastic material is provided, on one side, with an image coating (2) in the developed condition and a transparent optically diffusing layer (3) is provided subsequently, parallel to the base provided with the image coating. In this case, it is desired that the transparency, in spite of the transparent base, should be capable of being produced with a light optically diffusing layer while avoiding the storage of separate material specifically required for this purpose. This is achieved in that the optically diffusing layer is an applied lacquer layer (3), known per se, having a high degree of transparency and containing microscopically small highly transparent spheres (5). The combination of the transparent base with the microsphere lacquer leads to the avoidance of the storage of photographic material with an opalescent base film and of the use of heavy opal plates or diffusing films. <IMAGE>
