A capacitor comprises, as dielectric material, an impregnated metallized polypropylene film, characterised in that the metallized polypropylene film is impregnated with a 1,2-bis-(alkylphenyl)ethane represented by the general formula (I):

wherein R<1> represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R<2> represents a methyl, ethyl, n-propyl or isopropyl group and n is 1 or 2, with the proviso that when R<1> represents a methyl group, R<2> represents a methyl group.
