PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution by observing a binary or picture element signal covering two continuous horizontal scanning line simultaneously in respect to two, upper and lower picture elements to inspect overlap of segments. CONSTITUTION:Segments SE detected simultaneously with scanning of a picture are numbered from one and upward in the order of generation; and in this case, segments on a scanning line just before the current scanning are referred to check whether overlapping segments exist or not, and the same number as an already detected segment is stored as the number of a segment in the current scanning if they overlap, and a new number is stored as the number of the segment in the current scanning if they do not overlap. In a current scanning Yn of a pattern P1, when a next segment 1 is detected after the end point of a segment 3 in a preceding scanning Yn-1 is detected, it is judged that segments 1 and 3 are joined, and both segment numbers are stored as one pair. |
