PURPOSE:To accurately measure the gap between the inner surface of a panel and a shadow mask even in a high resolution shadow mask type color picture tube with the narrow gap between the inner surface and the shadow mask, by imbedding gap measurement sensors in a number of gap measurement section provided imitating the inner surface of the panel. CONSTITUTION:A gap measurement device measuring the gap between the inner surface of a panel and a shadow mask has a number of gap measurement sections 12 in which the tops, imitate the inside 111 of a panel 11, on a bench 10. Gap measurement sensors 13 ae imbedded on tops of the gap measurement sections and panel pin support bodies 20 with panel pins 18 that can be moved in the arrowhead 19 are provided. A shadow mask 16 is mounted on the panel pins 18 through support frame bodies 17 and the gap between the shadow mask 16 and the inner surface 111 of the panel 11 is measured by the gap measurement sensors 13. As the gap measurement sensor 13, non-contact type sensors such as eddy current and electrostatic capacity type sensors are best, but an electric micrometer and an air micrometer with exceedingly low measurement pressure may also be used. |
