PURPOSE:To enhance adsorbing capacity of impurities and a noxious component, by using silica or/and a alumina as a nucleus and laminating an org. material carbide layer having activity to the surface thereof to form a prous composite structure. CONSTITUTION:A solvent solution or dispersion of a carbonizable org. material is contacted with silica and/or alumna baked at 500-1,000 deg.C and having a surface area of 10-1,000m<2>/g and the impregnated one is subsequently dried to remove the solvent and carbonized or activated at high temp. to prepare a porous polymer structure. As a concrete method or condition for carbonization or activation at high temp., for example, there is a method wherein heat treatment is performed at 300-800 deg.C for 30min-4hr in an inert gas atmosphere such as N2 or argon. As the org. material, there are polyacrylamide, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyamide and polystyrene, etc.
