PURPOSE:To improve remarkably the life of an enzyme electrode by using an electrode provided with the power for capturing heavy metal as a reference electrode and/or an eath electrode. CONSTITUTION:An enzyme electrode 1 which uses as enzyme film 12 immobilized with enzyme, more particularly SH enzyme as a sensitive film and is disposed with a layer having the power for capturing heavy metal in contact with the surface of the film 12 on the side opposite to the side which is in contact with the liquid to be examined is combined with a reference electrode 2 and/or earth electrode 3, thereby constituting a biochemical analysis device. An electrode provided with the power for capturing heavy metal is used as the electrode 2 and/or the electrode 3. The deterioration in the performance of the electrode 1 by the effect of the univalent heavy metal which is hardly capturable by a chelating agent such as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid is prevented completely and therefore the life of the electrode 1 is remarkably improved.
