PURPOSE:To protect an image carrier surface securely and easily against damage due to external light and contacting by opening and closing a protection cover associatively with the opening/closing operation of a device body. CONSTITUTION:When the opening of a front door 57 in a closed state is started, the contacting point between the projection 57a of the front door 57 and an rocking lever 86c rises gradually and at the same time, a sector gear 85 at the left-side part of the rocking lever turns the engaging sector gear 74 of an arm 70. Then, the arm 70 united with the sector gear 74, receives turning force from the rocking lever 86 to move as shown by an arrow E. The protection cover 20 contacting the arm 70 starts moving as the arm 70 moves and when the front door 57 is fully open, the transfer/separation area of a photosensitive drum 3 is covered. |
