<p>Novel 1-(2-acylaminophenyl) imidazole compounds of the formula: in which -X2 is -R5 or -NHR2, wherein: (1) R5 is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, phenyl, substituted phenyl, fused bicyclic aryl or monocyclic aryl substituted aliphatic group bonded to the carbonyl carbon through a carbon-to-carbon linkage; and (2) R2 is a radical bonded to the nitrogen by a carbon to nitrogen linkage and selected from the group consisting of aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, phenyl, substituted phenyl and fused bicyclic aryl; and methods of making same from 1-(2-aminophenyl)imidazole are disclosed. These compounds are useful as intermediates in the preparation of certain 4-substituted imidazo ¢1,2-a! quinoxalines, which exhibit one or more of the following activities: immunosuppressant, antiinflammatory and antifungal activity.</p> |
