PURPOSE:To improve the equalizing performance of a waveform equalizer using a transversal filter, by using a section different in shaped waveform at each incoming of a digital waveform as a reference waveform. CONSTITUTION:An output of the transversal filter comprising an operating circuit 17 and a tap gain memory 18 is inputted to a level discriminating circuit 20, where the level is discriminated and the waveform is shaped. The section different from the shaped waveform by the level discriminating circuit 20 is used as the reference waveform. Even if the digital waveform includes much fixed pattern, the reference waveform is close to a random waveform at all times depending on the change in the position by using the reference waveform in this way. Thus, the correction and convergence of the tap gain of the transversal filter is performed stably and quickly and excellent waveform equalization is attained. Thus, the equalizing performance of the waveform equalizer is improved in such a way as mentioned. |
