PURPOSE:To enhance toner characteristics, such as development, transfer, or fixation performance, by dispersing a toner material contg. a graft-treated magnetic material, a synthetic resin monomer, and a polymn. initiator into a dispersion medium having little compatibility with said monomer and carrying out suspension polymn. of said monomer. CONSTITUTION:A graft rate of 0.1-10wt% gives appreciable effects but a preferable rate is 0.5-10wt%. So long as a magnetic material is magnetized intensely magnetized by a magnetic field, any magnetic material can be used. A sintered manetic material may be used. Preferably, a magnetite is desirable. As the synthetic resin monomer, styrene or its derivatives, ethylenically unsatd. monoolefins, vinyl halides, vinyl esters, etc. are usable, and as the polymn. initiator, azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN), benzoyl peroxide, lauroyl peroxide, etc. are used to polymerize the monomer. As the dispersion medium, a combination of water and a small amt. of acid, alkali, alcohol, and a dispersion stabilizer may be used. |
