1498041 Cryogenic tanks WHESSOE Ltd 3 March 1975 [6 March 1974] 10143/74 Heading F4P A cryogenic tank 1 has inner and outer shells 2, 3 with particulate insulating material 6 therebetween, a resilient compressible blanket 5 being provided on the inner shell and a flexible curtain 7 being located between blanket 5 and material 6 for accommodating the vertical loads imposed by packing down of material 6 during differential expansion and contraction of the two shells 2, 3. Curtain 7 may be suspended from the inner shells as shown or from the outer shell (Fig. 2, not shown). Suspended roof 4 may be replaced by a roof integral with inner shell 2 (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown). The curtain may have an increasing number of layers towards the top (Fig. 5, not shown), and suspension means for the curtain incorporating extendable and non extendable cords are also described (Fig. 6, not shown). |
