Homopolymers or copolymers are prepared from acrylamide N-substituted by a radical which has one of the formulae (A) and (B) below. These polymers are incorporated into sunscreen creams and oils. They absorb not only the radiations in the "erithematous region" (between 280 and 315 nm) but also the radiations responsible for tanning (up to 350 nm), which makes it possible to obtain total protection both against sunburn and against the effect of the UV rays between 280 and 350 nm.
