<p>Perchloromethyl mercaptan is made by reaction of carbon disulphide with gaseous chlorine in wt. ratio of around 1:1.5-3, in presence of a catalyst consisting of an organic or inorganic salt of a heavy metal, such as the halides of iron and aluminium. - The prod. is purified by fractional distn., entrainment by steam or treatment with acidified water, alcohol or oxidising agent. Application is in synthesis of fungicides, bactericides and insecticides.</p> |
