1325455 Electro-photographic copiers XEROX CORP 4 Aug 1970 [6 Aug 1969 (2)] 37538/70 Heading G2H After transfer of a developed image from a photo-conductive belt 12, any toner remaining on the belt is removed and returned to the developing system. In one embodiment, a brush 30 cleans belt 12 and a blower (45), Fig. 1 (not shown) connected to a duct 44 sucks the toner out of the brush housing 34, along a pipe 43 and into contact with corona discharge wires 48. The charged toner sticks to an earthed, rotating drum 42 and is removed therefrom by a scraper 65 and by carrier beads which cascade down from belt 12 after development thereof. The toner and carrier are received in a tube 62 which also communicates with a toner dispenser (15), Fig. 1 (not shown). The reclaimed toner, fresh toner and the carrier beads are then conveyed upwards from tube 62 for cascading down over the belt again. In an alternative embodiment Figs. 4, 5; (not shown), the toner on drum 42 is removed just by scraping, and the reclaimed toner is added to the dispenser (15) for recirculation. |
