The invention relates to fabric products and filtering agents, the rigidity and/or the mechanical strength of which are considerably improved by sandwiching between two networks of wires (filaments) or profiled elements which are parallel to each other; the said networks of parallel wires (filaments) and profiled elements being disposed on either side of the fabric product or of the filtering agent and making an angle between them, usually 90 DEG . The two networks of wires (filaments) or profiled elements of the reinforcing framework 2 and 3 disposed on either side of the fabric product 1 are solidly attached, at each point of intersection, or only at some of these points of intersection, by welding, stapling, bonding, etc., through the fabric product or the filtering agent. This method enables a monolithic composite to be obtained which has both high transmittance of the fabric product or of the filtering agent and high stiffness and mechanical strength which the external framework confers on it. <IMAGE>
