Desulphurisation of a metal bath in a casting vessel with a layer of slag consists of renewing the metal at the interface between metal and slag by inflation from the bottom of the casting vessel with low output gas. The renewal of the slag at the interface is ensured and the actual interface is agitated by stirring the slag from above.
