The present invention relates to a splint for the vertebral column, consisting of a rigid board made of variable materials and taking up little space: thin, narrow, its length being adjustable to the dimension of the head plus the trunk, and able to be sufficiently firmly secured to the victim's body by means of a system of straps and adhesives. This splint will be used in the extrication of injured persons with suspected injury to the vertebral column when the victims are trapped in a confined space such as the cab of a motor vehicle. <IMAGE>
