This stopper for a fuel tank comprises an internal stopper 4 having an internal cavity in which a piston 8 slides. The piston comprises, at its upper end, a filter 12 and a valve Va through which elements the internal cavity of the stopper is connected to the exterior of the tank 1. The internal stopper comprises, at its two ends, a valve through which the internal cavity is connected to the inside of the tank. The piston comprises an upper end which is exposed on the outside and is normally pushed towards the outside by a spring 14. This tank stopper functions as a pump for compressing the air in the tank when the piston is operated by hand with a reciprocating motion. <IMAGE>
