PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a high resolving degree, in an ion type image forming apparatus, by selecting polarity in such a way that the direction of an electric field to a base electrode from a signal electrode is made reverse to the direction of an electric field to a member to be recorded from the base electrode. CONSTITUTION:When positive signal voltage is applied to a first electrode 1 being a signal electrode to perform discharge between said first electrode 1 and a second electrode 2 being a base electrode, positive bias voltage is reversely applied to the conductive layer 6 of a member 20 to be recorded. Whereby, the electric field generated at the gap space between a recording head 10 and the member 20 to be recorded comes to B' and line of electric force B' is converged to the surface of the member 20 to be recorded. In this case, an electron or an anion generated in the vicinity of the second electrode 3 in a hole 4 is moved to the surface of the member 20 to be recorded by the action of the line of electric force and converged to be adhered thereto as a small size dot. By this method, a sharp image with a high resolving degree can be obtained and each hole can be made large to facilitate the production of the head. |
