PURPOSE:To make correction by centering on displayed set density, by displaying an exposure value set by a density measurement of an original in automatic adjustment corresponding to the position of a density setting lever in manual density adjustment. CONSTITUTION:In automatic density setting mode, data proportional to the mean value of original density is sample-held by the preliminary scanning of an optical system which measures the original density, then displayed on a density aperture display device 6, and the original is exposed in the next copying operation with the quantity of light of a halogen lamp 14 corresponding to the data. When a user makes a slight level change from automatically set density, a density aperture lever 3 is shifted from a current set position 5' to a position 1' for thicker density or to a position 9' for thinner density; the density is varied stepwise between the positions 1' and 9'. Namely, the user makes the slight change centering on an aperture value corresponding to the original density displayed on the density setting display device 6 by using a density setting lever. |
