The tool carrier of an electrical discharge machine tool consists of a top and bottom carrier part. To obtain a satisfactory working result, the top and bottom carrier parts must be centred as accurately as possible. For this purpose, one carrier part (1) has centring claws (3, 4), while the other carrier part (2) is provided with correspondingly shaped and arranged recesses (7, 8) for these centring claws (3, 4). The quality of the centring thus depends upon the accuracy with which the centring claws and recesses are produced. High production accuracy at relatively low production costs is achieved according to the invention by the centring device now being provided with only three centring claws, instead of four as previously, and corresponding recesses and by their configuration being selected in such a way that in each case two centring surfaces (14) disposed in line with one another can be machined in one operation. Thus all six centring surfaces of the three centring claws and recesses can be produced in three operations. The top carrier part and the bottom carrier part can be of identical design at least with regard to the claws and recesses. Appropriate selection of the "pitch circle" ensures that the heads of the claws do not stand on the base of the recesses. <IMAGE>
