EEG device which, for straightforward testing of good contact between the electrodes and the head of the patient, and for simple localisation of poorly fitting electrodes, has a recording arrangement which measures the transition resistances and which comprises a program-controlled switching facility by means of which several groups of in each case several predetermined electrode connections, differing from group to group, can be connected at predetermined time intervals one after the other, in each case for a predetermined time span, to a signal generator emitting an analog reference signal, and can be connected to the recording arrangement in such a way that in each case the electrode connections of each group are switched to the measurement inputs of different recording channels, and by means of which in each case, during the time span in which the electrode connections of one respective group are connected to the recording arrangement, several electrode connections of at least one other group can be connected together to the reference inputs of the recording channels involved in each case. In this way the measurement images of the transition resistances can be recorded in the same pattern as the electrodes allocated to them are arranged on the head of the patient.
