The barrier post (10) for a car park has its main part in the form of a swing part (13) which is connected by means of a universal joint (14), so as to be able to swivel on all sides, to a holding pin (12) which in turn is fastened to a base plate (11) which is anchored firmly to the ground. The swing part (13) and the holding pin (12) have the same cross-sectional shape and the same outer cross-sectional dimensioning. The swing part (13) is provided with a locking sleeve (15) for locking purposes, the hollow space of which is matched to the outer shape of the swing part (13) and of the holding pin (12). The sleeve can therefore be displaced on the swing part (13), beyond the universal joint (14) and down over the holding pin (12), and then holds the swing part (13) firmly in its vertical operating position. To bend down the swing part (13), the locking sleeve (15) is pushed up beyond the universal joint. A lock (16) at the upper end of the swing part (13) allows the locking sleeve (15) to be locked in the locking position. The holding pin (12), the universal joint (14) and the swing part (13) are made of metal and have a certain minimum strength. The locking sleeve (15) is made of a material, in particular of plastic, with very slight toughness and whose resistance to breaking is less than that of the other parts of the barrier post, the result being that, in the event of an accident, at most the very inexpensive locking sleeve (15) would be broken ...
