PURPOSE:To prevent the increase of power consumption, by providing a white clip circuit operated only at the rapid traverse reproduction before a video circuit so as to suppress the effect of white noise. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic recording and reproducing device with monitor consists, e.g., of a magnetic reproducing head 2, preamplifier 3, demodulator 4, video amplifier 5, video amplifier circuit 6, deflection system 7, high voltage system 8, and a CPU and the like. The input stage of the video circuit 6 is provided with a white clip circuit 10 operated only at the rapid traverse reproduction (and rewinding reproduction) and clipping a high luminance signal at a prescribed value. When a reel motor driver circuit 1 is in the rapid traverse reproduction (or rewinding reproduction), a signal is transmitted from the driver circuit 1 so as to activate the clip circuit 10. Then, the video signal less than the clip value is fed to the video circuit 6, and the power consumption is decreased. |
