A coupler network for coupling N subscriber transmitters (S1 to S64) with N (= n.m) subscriber receivers (E1 to E64) is described. The system has m star couplers (1A to 4A) in each case with n input gates (1 to 16, 17 to 32, 33 to 48, 49 to 64) on the transmitter side for connection in each case of 16 subscriber transmitters and m star couplers (1b to 4b) in each case with n output gates (1' to 16', 17' to 32', 33' to 48', 49' to 64') on the receiver side for connection in each case of n subscriber receivers. To reduce the path attenuation of this echo-free coupler network, each star coupler (1a to 4a) with input gates on the transmitter side is connected to each star coupler (1b to 4b) with output gates on the receiver side in each case by means of a parallel connection of n/m output gates of a first-mentioned star coupler to n/m input gates of a second-mentioned star coupler.
