The subject-matter is a self-adhesive tape whose adhesive has been applied not in a single layer but in a plurality of layers. The lower or inner layers consist of adhesives which can also act as primer or anchor layer and which are comparatively inexpensive and have comparatively good adhesion properties. The top or end layer, by contrast, consists of an adhesive possessing high grade properties capable of meeting in full the functions expected of the tape even under the most critical conditions.
