In order to protect electrical switching apparatuses, in particular line protection circuit breakers, against unauthorised switching operations, a locking device is proposed for switching apparatuses having a lead-sealing device, which locking device consists of a moulded part (1) and a locking device (2), for example a padlock. The moulded part (1) is inserted into existing lead-sealing holes (5) and is secured against removal by a positively locking connection between a recess (9) and a projection (4) on the moulded part (1) as well as a projection (3) on the switch housing (7) through a bracket (8) of the locking device (2). The moulded part (1) projects into the pivoting region of the operating lever (6) of the switch (7) and hence prevents a switching operation. <IMAGE>
