PURPOSE:To estimate the total capacity of a set of batteries by a method wherein the battery of the lowest capacity is found out among the set of batteries and tested for charge while a charging is carried out for the battery set as usual without separation of the battery from the circuit of the set of batteries. CONSTITUTION:A switch 11 is opened to stop for a while an AC input into a rectifier 2 briefly and power is supplied to a load 4 from a set of batteries 3. Under such a condition, the battery of the lowest in the terminal voltage is found out among the set of batteries 3 and specified as the lowest capacity battery 31. Then, the switch 11 is closed to restore the AC input of the rectifier 2 and a DC power is fed to the set of batteries 3 and the load 4 from the rectifier 2. Under such a condition, the lowest capacity battery 31 is tested for discharge singly with a discharge/charge tester 6. This enables the supply of power necessary for emergency even during the discharge testing. |
