The invention relates to a closure for money boxes made of ceramic or porcelain, consisting of a closure plate made of metal with a lock housing and tabs for gripping behind the money box opening and an opposite lock bolt which can be displaced by means of a key, which lock bolt can be engaged by spring catches in a retracted and extended position, in the latter for locking, the intention being to provide a money box lock which is seated fixedly at the opening of the money box after closure. This is achieved in that an elbow is provided as gripping tab which is spring-mounted on the lock housing, is movable relative to the lock bolt towards the closure plate and serves for clamping on the money box opening with simultaneous extension of the lock bolt by means of the key, by which means a fixed seat is achieved after closure of the money box opening. <IMAGE>
