PURPOSE:To improve the effect of cooling in a heat recovering device and to improve a rate of heat recovery by using a sleeved roll for a guide roll in a pssage for a billet, providing a refrigerant passage between the sleeve and the cylindrical part of an arbor, and supplying pure water or softened water in said passage. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve 7 is shrinkage-fitted to an arbor 6 worked with a conduit hole 10 and a spiral refrigerant passage 8. Pure water or softened water flows through a rotary joint 9 in the hole 10 and the passage 8, and evaporates by recovering the heat of a slab in contact with the sleeve 7. All the guide rolls and pinch rolls are constructed to means of circulating cooling water in the above-mentioned way, whereby not only the efficient recovery of heat is accomplished but also the deposition of scale in the rolls is obviated and the life of the rolls is extended. |
