The undercloths running around for example in drum vulcanising machines and similar continuously operating vulcanising installations underneath the looped-around pressure belt, in direct contact with the material being vulcanised, are produced as an endless band on the vulcanising machine itself, according to the invention by one of a plurality of plies of wound underlying fabric being covered by vulcanisable rubber, likewise applied in a plurality of plies of a continuous sheet and the laminated structure thus built up initially becoming compacted as it passes repeatedly as a blank through the preheated machine and is subsequently completely vulcanised. As a result of the novel production process, the finished undercloths have a fully satisfactory surface finish in all areas, without the otherwise unavoidable troublesome overlapping or abutting joints of the band ends.
