Inductive heating of rod sections in an inductive heating installation for rods in order to avoid a special heating installation for rod sections, the rods being transported through a plurality of induction coils and being heated thereby. Sliding rails (5) are arranged in the induction coils (2a, 2b), which are arranged closely one behind the other, and provided in front of the first induction coil (2a) is a drive device (4) which presses the rods or rod sections into the induction coils by means of rollers (1) which can be pressed on.
