PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a magnetic disk device, by providing an elastic support member which can be freely deformed in the same direction as a positioning device between a voice coil motor and a substrate. CONSTITUTION:When a positioning command is received from an upper device while a magnetic disk 1 is revolved together with a spindle 6 by a motor, a carriage 3 performs a seeking action accompanied by a high-speed reciprocating motion. In this case, a voice coil motor 4 receives a reaction proportional to the motion acceleration of the carriage 3 in the direction of an arrow B. This reaction is transmitted to a substrate 5. However the level and the oscillating cycle of the reaction transmitted to the substrate 5 are greatly reduced by the buffing function of a coil spring 12 since the base 4a of the motor 4 is connected to the substrate 5 via the spring 12. Therefore the degree of deformation is reduced, and the cycle of the substrate 5 has a big difference from the motion cycle of the carriage 3. As a result, the relative displacement between a magnetic disk and a magnetic head is greatly reduced. This reduces the malfunction during a writing or reading action. |
