<p>A vacuum cleaner 10 is provided with a sub-assembly including an electric motor 22, a fan 23 driven by the motor 22 and a housing 25 which supports the fan 23 and motor 22. This assembly is supported on the upper surface 18 of the lid 12 of the dirt collecting drum 11, with the fan housing 25 being clamped between a motor housing 15 and the lid 12. First and second thin ring-shaped gaskets 41, 44 mounted in face-to-face relationship are cemented to the fan housing 25 and lid 12, respectively. A lightly compressed third relatively thick ring-shaped gasket 46 is interposed between the motor housing 15 and fan housing 25. This three gasket combination 41, 44, 46 serves to effectively isolate the lid 18 and motor housing 25, as well as other elements of the vacuum cleaner 10 from motor 22 and fan 23 vibrations.</p> |
