A foldable wheelchair has lateral frame members (10,11) which accommodate wheels (12,13) and are pivotable relative to one another in the frame member planes in dependence upon the surface of the ground, by means of cross-pieces (14, 15) of which the lower ends are pivotally mounted on lower supporting tubes (17) of the frame members (10, 11), and the upper ends are rigidly mounted on seat tubes (18). Each seat tube (18) is rotatably mounted in two hinged sleeves (20) the sleeves (20) being mounted on the upper ends of guided guide rods which are vertically displaceable; to reduce friction occuring as a result of the displacement of the guide rods when the wheelchair is retracted and extended, and, each guide rod is the rail (21a) of a ball guidance means (21), its other rail being mounted inside the associated frame member (10, 11). <IMAGE> |
