<Chemistry id="chema01" num="0001"><Image id="ia01" he="26" wi="37" file="IMGA0001.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" inline="no" /></Chemistry>wherein R, through R<Sub>4</Sub> are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, cyclic and acyclic alkyl groups having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and a substituted melamine having the formula
<Chemistry id="chema02" num="0002"><Image id="ia02" he="29" wi="60" file="IMGA0002.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" inline="no" /></Chemistry>where R<Sub>5</Sub> through R,<Sub>o</Sub> may be the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms. The reaction product is a resin and is added to the rubber compound prior to cure. The adhesion promoter is useful in the making of tires having steel belts and in other reinforced rubber articles.
