<p>PURPOSE:To reduce away the P2O5 incorporated in the slag which contains oxides and halides of alkaline earth metals and an oxidizing agent, and to regenerate the same again as slag to be used for dephosphorization by bringing said slag into reaction together with carbon or molten iron. CONSTITUTION:The molten slag added with oxides of alkaline earth metals such as BaO and halides of alkaline earth metals such as BaCl2 and a flux consisting of an oxidizing agent for oxidizing P is used for dephosphorization of stainless steel or the like contg. Cr, Mn, etc. which are more easily oxidized than P. The P contained in the stainless steel is oxidized to P2O5 and forms stable slag with BaO, etc., whereby dephosphorization is effected. Since costly BaO, BaCl2 are contained in such slag, carbon or molten iron contg. much carbon is added to the slag to bring the slag into reaction, whereby the P2O5 in the slag is reduced to P and is removed from the slag. BaO, BaCl2 remain intact in the remaining slag and the slag is again circulatorily used as slag for dephosphorization.</p> |
