PURPOSE:To obtain a titled storage element having a large readout signal and excellent recording sensitivity, by providing a specific reflection film on the rear of a thin film of a amorphous magnetic material of a rare earth-transition metal base having the axis of easy magnetization in the direction perpendicular to the film plane. CONSTITUTION:A reflection film 7 consisting of a transparent film, such as SiO2, MgF2, Ta2O5 or the like, having 0<A<=0.5 the real number part A and 0>=B>= -1.5 the imaginary number part B of a refractive index (including virtual refractive index) and a metallic film of Au, Cu, Ag, etc. or only the metallic film is provided on the rear of a thin film of the amorphous magnetic material consisting of GdTbFe, GdTbDyFe, etc. and having the axis of easy magnetization in the direction perpendicular to the film plane of <=30nm film thickness. The Kerr rotating angle is thus increased and the readout signal is made large. Since the absorption rate is high, the recording sensitivity is improved. |
