PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of sorting and stacking, by sorting and stacking a kind of sheets appointed by an operating section, in a stacking section, depending on the result of detection by a detector which detects the kind and intactness or damage of the sheets. CONSTITUTION:Detecting portions 11, which detect the kind, intactness or damage and being face-down or face-up of back notes conveyed from a bank note takeout section 4, are provided to face each other across a bank note conveyance passage. After passing through between the detecting portions 11, the bank notes are sorted and stacked through a first or a second gate 12 or 13 which is changed over to a stacking section. A designation is effected by an operating section so that only one kind of bank notes are sorted of intactness or damage. For that reason, bank notes or the like near in kind can be very efficiently sorted of intactness or damage. |
