1,270,786. Tripod step ladder. G. H. EMMONS. 20 July, 1970 [4 Aug., 1969], No. 35022/70. Heading E1S. A tripod step ladder is formed with the ladder portion 46 associated with one leg 38 only, which leg forms one rail of the ladder, the other rail, 54, being shorter, and not reaching ground level. A lower foldable brace 72 is hinged to legs 38 and 42 and can be clipped (in the embodiment shown) to the third leg 40', or is slidably connected thereto (Fig. 2, not shown). The third leg is pivotally connected near its upper end to the rail 54 and has its upper end locatable in a slot, e.g. 70' in the top plate 44 of the ladder. A further foldable brace 52 is provided between legs 38 and 42. The bottom of rail 54 is angled and reinforced by a broader portion 90 which has a shoulder 93 whereby the rail 54 can rest on brace 72 when loaded. An exterior piece (Fig. 3, not shown) can be provided on any of the legs. |
