PURPOSE:To separate surely the sheets likely to be fed double by meshing a feed roller with a separating roller upon feeding the sheets to between the feed roller and separating roller by means of pressure contact of a guide nail with the feed roller, and then rotating the separating roller in the direction opposite to sheet feeding. CONSTITUTION:Sheet feeding shall commence when a guide nail 12 comes in pressure contact with a feed roller 5 and a separating roller 6 has retracted from the feed roller 5, and at the time of the leading edge being sensed by a sensor 8 the rotation of this pair of rollers is stopped for a while, for the purpose of separating the guide nail 12 from the feed roller 5 as well as meshing the separating roller 6 with the feed roller 5, whereafter they are rotated so as to move the sheet or sheets in opposite directions. Here the frictional coefficient of the separating roller with the sheet or sheets 11 is smaller than that of the feed roller 5 with the sheet or sheets 11 and larger than the coefficient of two sheets between, so that only the uppermost sheet will be sent away even when a plurality of sheets are being fed eventually. |
