A fixing device comprises a hollow rigid elongate member (2) having an outer surface which is keyed to provide an anchorage for expandable material (8) which is arranged to cover at least a part of the outer surface of the hollow elongate member and which includes a blowing agent effective to produce expansion of the expandable material (8) consequent upon the application of heat at a temperature not sufficient to cause significant deformation of the hollow rigid elongate member (2), e.g. by means of a heated mandrel 20 (Fig. 5), whereby the device is fixable firmly within a hole in a body such as a wall. <IMAGE> |
