<p>An automatic coil winding machine, Fig. 3, comprises a beam (20) carrying a plurality of wire guide nozzles (21) end orbited by two shaft-driven eccentrics to orbit the nozzles for simultaneous coil winding, and an indexable turret (29) adapted to carry spool assemblies (1) and successively position different pluralities of them adjacent to the beam for coil winding. The drive shafts carry weights to dynamically balance the beam. Each spool assembly comprises, Fig. 1, oppositely wound spools 2, 3 integral with base 4, a magnet gap 5, and connections 10 and 12, 11 and 13. The spool assemblies are transferred to the turret (29) automatically by a mechanism (36) from a preloaded carrier bar (35), and returned to the carrier bar (35) by an ejector mechanism (37). A gripper and cutter mechanism (38) is used to remove the wire links between spool assemblies. The beam (20) is mounted on an x-y coordinate table (22) and movable by motors (25 and 26) in the plane of the table to define the wire path on the spool assemblies (coil winding is achieved by driving the beam). A motor (28) moves the table (22) about its pivotal mounting to provide coil pitch. <IMAGE></p> |
