PURPOSE:To cause a curved surface sander to follow precisely a complecated surface of a work so as to polish it efficiently, by pressing a pad of an elastic material having flat surface and curved surface parts selectively to the back surface of a belt sander so that it will fit to the configuration of the surface of the work to be polished. CONSTITUTION:The curved surface sander is of a double throw type wherein a finishing head 10 and a roughing head 20 are arranged side by side. The finishing head 10 can perform prescribed polishing operation in such a way that a belt sander 13 put over pulleys 11, 12 are run circularly. A support plate 15 is provided in the belt sander 13 and is supported by a support shaft 5, and a pad unit 100 mounted to the support plate 15 presses the work against the belt sander 13. Similarly the roughing head 20 has a belt sander 23 put over pulleys 21, 22, a support plate 25, and a pad unit 100 mounted thereto. The pad 107 is made of an elastic material having a moderate hardness, has a hollow structure, includes a pressing surface comprising a planar section 107a and a curved surface section 107b and is formed with suction openings 107c for sucking the belt sander 13. |
